One fantastic day, I walked into work to find a strange little device on my desk… lo and behold it was a Tortilla Press! SWEET!
Clearly, it was now in my better interest to find out how well these things work and if fresh tortillas really do taste as amazing as people say…. well…. the answer is YES! Enjoy!
Oh, and here’s the recipe from another blog I followed. GREAT directions! MMMMM….
For your visual enjoyment: a picture album and slide-show.

Barcelona’s Chicken Al Pimientos - Must Try!!
Friday, February 6th, 2009 | Cooking, wine | No Comments
Last night I decided to make the Chicken Al Pimentos dish they serve at Barcelona Wine Bar. I actually found
the exact recipe online about a week ago because it appears that they are going to be publishing a Barcelona Cookbook!! I’m pretty excited about that, not gonna lie.
Here’s a link to the recipe for those of you wanting to try this too.
http://barcelonacookbook.com/pdf/barcelonarecipechicken.pdf
Things I did differently:
- I used Leg Quarters instead of cutting up a whole chicken. Saved a little bit of time. But it’s more cost effective to buy whole birds when you can.
- I used a Spanish White wine - Vega Sindoa, which is a blend of Vieura and Chardonnay, but an Albarino would have probably made more sense. Make sure you buy something you want to drink too.
- I cooked the potato slices in the oven on a stoneware bar pan to save on ‘frying’ them. Plus, while those were in the hot oven, I could prep the other ingredients and chicken. Make sure you place the cooked potatoes on parchment to keep from getting soggy later.
**Beware, this dish is spicy! You can pair a Riesling to this if you want to cut down the acidity in the sauce. Or go the way of Cava - Sparking wine from Spain. Great with spicy dishes!
