Petit Syrahs from Snooth.com’s Week In Wine
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 | Uncategorized
For those of you who might not yet be familiar with Snooth.com, let me introduce you.
Snooth.com is a social network of wine lovers around the world where you can set up your own profile page with wine lists, tasting notes, get wine recommendations, and even purchase wine that is available through their site. You can learn about various wines, grapes, the growing process and interact with other members. Kind of the like the Facebook for Wine! (Did you expect any less from me?)
I signed up for their newsletter and each week I receive great notes about the kinds of wines I love, along with suggestions for food pairing and where to buy! I highly recommend that you get yourself situated and start sharing some wine love!
This week’s newsletter focuses on Petit Syrah - one of my favorite grapes. It’s peppery, jammy, spicy,
staining, rich, and conjures up every thought of delectable delights; it’s the dark chocolate of wine.
Featured wines are:
-
Parducci Mendocino Petite Sirah 2006 - 13.5%
-
Mettler Lodi Petite Sirah 2005 - 14.2%
-
Eos Estate Petite Sirah 2005 - 13.5%
-
Berryessa Gap Reserve Yolo 2005 - 13.7%
-
Clayhouse Paso Robles 2005 - 14.8%
Not surprising, most of these are coming out of California. It’s a prime gowning region for these grapes, as they love the dry heat and long summer days. No watered down fruit to see here, people…..
You can check out my personal wine tasting of the EOS Petit Syrah as well. It’s up there on my list of faves!
Oh, and they have an iPhone app…. YAY! Get it here.
Cheers!
Kronick Wino
